In questa lezione padroneggerai i comparativi correlativi (*the more… the more*), l’uso avanzato di *so/such* per le conseguenze e le clausole comparative ipotetiche introdotte da *as if / as though*. 🚀
🌟 Proportional Comparatives (The… the…)
| Struttura Correlativa | Significato Equivalente | Esempio Pratico |
|---|---|---|
| The + comparativo …, the + comparativo … | Più …, più … | The harder you work, the better results you get. |
| The + comparativo …, the + meno … | Più …, meno … | The earlier we leave, the less traffic we will encounter. |
⏱️ Intensità e Conseguenza (So… that / Such… that)
Per esprimere una conseguenza straordinaria derivata da un grado elevato, usiamo *so* o *such*, facendo attenzione all’inversione quando *so* apre la frase.
- So + Aggettivo/Avverbio + that: The music was so loud that we couldn’t talk.
- Such + (Aggettivo) + Sostantivo + that: It was such a difficult exam that most students failed.
- Inversione con “So”: So cold was the weather that all flights were grounded. (Così freddo era il tempo che…)
🔗 Comparazioni Ipotetiche (As if / As though)
- He speaks as if he knew everything about the matter.
- She acted as though nothing had happened.
- (Nota: Si preferisce were al posto di *was* nelle forme ipotetiche: He talks as if he were a boss).
🛠️ Come costruirle
|---|---|---|
| Proporzionale (The… the…) | The + Comparative + Clause + , the + Comparative + Clause | The more you practice, the more fluent you become. |
| Conseguenza (Such) | Such + [a/an] + [Adj] + Sostantivo + that + Clausola | It was such a remarkable achievement that everyone cheered. |
| Ipotetica (As if / As though) | Clausola principale + as if / as though + Past Simple / Past Perfect | He looked as though he had seen a ghost. |
🚫 Errori comuni da evitare
| Errore C1/C2 ❌ | Corretto ✅ |
|---|---|
| The more you study, more you learn. | The more you study, the more you learn. (Entrambe le parti vogliono l’articolo ‘the’!) |
| It was so a nice day that we went out. | It was such a nice day that we went out. (Davanti a un nome numerabile con aggettivo si usa ‘such a’, non ‘so’!) |
| He speaks as if he knows everything. (riferito a situazione irreale) | He speaks as if he knew everything. (Le comparazioni ipotetiche richiedono l’Unreal Past!) |
1. Gap Fill & Translation (C1/C2)
Completa le frasi inserendo l’elemento mancante (es. the, such, so, as if, knew).
