🎯 Obiettivo della lezione (C1/C2)
In italiano usiamo quasi sempre il congiuntivo per esprimere desideri o opinioni (“Vorrei che tu *andassi*…”). In inglese, il congiuntivo vero e proprio è raro e formale, mentre nel parlato quotidiano si sfrutta il Passato Irreale (Unreal Past). In questa lezione imparerai a dominare entrambe le strutture! 🚀
🌠 I wish / If only (Rimpianti e Fastidi)
I wish (Vorrei / Magari) e If only (Se solo) seguono regole temporali rigide, molto simili ai Conditionals.

💡 Attenzione: Come nel Second Conditional, con il verbo *to be* è preferibile usare were per tutte le persone (es. I wish I were taller).
⏰ It’s (high / about) time
Si usa per esprimere che qualcosa dovrebbe già essere stata fatta (urgenza o leggera critica). In italiano lo traduciamo con “È (proprio) ora che…”.
It is (high/about) time + SOGGETTO + PAST SIMPLE
- It’s high time you found a job. (È proprio ora che tu trovi un lavoro.)
- It’s about time we went home. (È ora che andiamo a casa.)
*(Nota: Se manca il soggetto, si usa l’infinito: It’s time to go home).*
⚖️ Would rather (‘d rather)
Significa “Preferirei”. La regola cambia a seconda che i soggetti delle due azioni siano uguali o diversi.

🏛️ Il Congiuntivo Formale (Mandative Subjunctive)
A livelli C1/C2, in contesti formali, aziendali o legali, dopo verbi che esprimono ordine, richiesta, consiglio (es. demand, insist, suggest, recommend) o aggettivi di importanza (es. essential, crucial, vital), si usa la forma base del verbo per tutte le persone (senza la ‘s’ alla 3ª singolare!).
- The boss demanded that he be fired. (Non
isowas) - It is crucial that she arrive on time. (Non
arrives) - My doctor recommended that I not eat sugar. (Negazione diretta: *not + base form*)

Per padroneggiare le strutture dell’Unreal Past e del Congiuntivo Formale senza commettere errori di interferenza con l’italiano, segui questi schemi chiave:
