🌟 Avverbi Negativi in Posizione Iniziale
Quando parole come *never, rarely, seldom, little, nowhere* o *hardly* si trovano a inizio frase per dare enfasi, attivano immediatamente l’inversione sintattica.
| Ordine Standard (Neutro) | Inversione Formale (Enfatica) |
|---|---|
| I have rarely seen such dedication. | Rarely have I seen such dedication. |
| He little knew what awaited him. | Little did he know what awaited him. |
⏱️ Espressioni Limitanti (Only & Not until)
Le strutture introdotte da *Only* (es. *only then, only when, only if, only after*) e *Not until* richiedono l’inversione nella proposizione principale che segue l’espressione limitante.
- Only when the manager arrived did we start the meeting. (Solo quando arrivò il direttore iniziammo…)
- Not until he signed the contract did he realize the terms. (Solo dopo aver firmato si rese conto…)
🔗 Strutture Correlative (No sooner… than / Scarcely… when)
- No sooner + Past Perfect + than: No sooner had I closed my eyes than I fell asleep.
- Scarcely / Hardly + Past Perfect + when: Hardly had she entered the room when the phone rang.
🛠️ Come costruirle
|---|---|---|
| Avverbio Negativo Semplice (Never, Rarely, Seldom) | [Avverbio] + Ausiliare / Modale + Soggetto + [Verbo Principale] | Never have I experienced such a delay. |
| Espressione con “Only” (Only then, Only once) | [Espressione Only] + Ausiliare + Soggetto + [Verbo] | Only then did I understand the truth. |
| Correlativa di Anteriorità (No sooner) | No sooner + Had + Soggetto + V3 + than… | No sooner had we left than it began to rain. |
🚫 Errori comuni da evitare
| Errore C1/C2 ❌ | Corretto ✅ |
|---|---|
| Rarely I have seen such a masterpiece. | Rarely have I seen such a masterpiece. |
| Only when she called me I understood. | Only when she called me did I understand. |
| No sooner had we arrived when it started. | No sooner had we arrived than it started. (‘No sooner’ vuole sempre ‘than’, non ‘when’!) |
1. Gap Fill & Translation (C1/C2)
