🏛️ La Passive Voice in ambito accademico

Nel linguaggio formale, universitario o scientifico, si usa spesso il passivo (To Be + Participio Passato) per dare importanza all’azione o ai risultati, spostando l’attenzione dall’autore (“chi lo ha fatto”) all’oggetto.

  • Presente: English is spoken globally. (L’inglese è parlato…)
  • Passato: The university was founded in 1850. (L’università fu fondata…)
  • Futuro: The new labs will be built next year.

⚠️ I participi passati irregolari

Il passivo crolla miseramente se inventi il participio passato. Ricorda le forme chiave usate a scuola:

📝 Esami: Take vs Pass

La trappola scolastica per eccellenza degli italiani:

  • Take an exam: Significa sostenere / fare un esame.
I have to take three exams in June.
  • Pass an exam: Significa superare l’esame con successo.
I hope I will pass all my exams.
  • ❌ *To superate an exam* (Superate in inglese non si usa per gli esami!).

🔍 Chi compie l’azione? By vs With

  • Usa BY per indicare l’autore/agente di un’azione passiva.
The book was written by Shakespeare.
  • Usa WITH per indicare lo strumento utilizzato.
The test was written with a blue pen.
