⏳ Il Backshift: Slittamento dei tempi verbali

Quando riporti ciò che qualcuno ha detto nel passato (es. He said that…), i tempi verbali compiono un salto indietro nel tempo (Backshift):

  • Present Simple ➔ Past Simple: “I live in London” ➔ He said he lived in London.
  • Present Continuous ➔ Past Continuous: “I am working” ➔ She said she was working.
  • Past Simple / Present Perf. ➔ Past Perfect: “I won the prize” ➔ He said he had won the prize.
  • Will ➔ Would: “I will call you” ➔ She said she would call me.

📢 Verbi di reporting avanzati

A livello B2, smetti di usare sempre “He said that”. Sfrutta verbi più precisi e potenti:

Verbo Regola grammaticale Esempio corretto ✅
Admit (Ammettere) Seguito da gerundio -ing He admitted taking the money.
Deny (Negare) Seguito da gerundio -ing She denied stealing the file.
Claim (Sostenere/Rivendicare) Seguito da to + infinito He claimed to know the truth.

❓ Domande indirette e l’ordine delle parole

Quando riporti una domanda, spariscono l’ausiliare do/does/did e l’inversione soggetto-verbo. La frase diventa un’affermazione lineare (Soggetto + Verbo).

  • Direct: *”Where do you live?”*
  • ✅ Indirect: He asked me where I lived.
  • ❌ Errore grave: *He asked me where did I live.* (L’ausiliare sparisce!).

📅 Cambiamenti di espressioni temporali

  • Today ➔ *That day*
  • Yesterday ➔ *The day before* / *The previous day*
  • Tomorrow ➔ *The next day* / *The following day*
  • Here ➔ *There*
