✨ It-Clefts: Isolare e mettere in risalto

A livello C1, per focalizzare l’attenzione su un dettaglio specifico (soggetto o complemento), dividiamo la frase in due parti usando la struttura It + be + elemento focalizzato + che/chi (that/who):

  • Frase base: *John stole the document.*
  • It-Cleft (Focus sul soggetto): It was John who stole the document.”
  • It-Cleft (Focus sul tempo/luogo): It was yesterday that we signed the contract.”

🔄 Wh-Clefts / Pseudo-Clefts

Le pseudo-cleft sentences iniziano solitamente con What e servono a guidare l’ascoltatore verso il punto chiave della frase (solitamente alla fine, preceduto dal verbo is):

Intento comunicativo Esempio Avanzato C1 ✅
Enfasi su un’esigenza What we need most at this stage is absolute transparency.”
Enfasi su un’azione What I did was inform the board immediately.”

  • Object Fronting: “Such details we cannot ignore.” (Invece di: *We cannot ignore such details*).
  • Adverbial Fronting: “On the table lay a confidential letter.”
