FP WRITING TOP: Ortisio and the flying book of the English writing lab

Writing in English is not a talent: it is a sequence of steps. If you do not know where to start, or every sentence you write feels a little “off”, the problem is usually the method, not the vocabulary. FP WRITING TOP is the free writing lab on this site. It takes you from your very first sentence to a formal letter, with Ortisio, an absent-minded ghost axolotl who loves writing, and Blot, the ink drop with opinions about everything.

The five-step writing recipe

  1. Think. Before you write, answer five questions in a few words: who? what? where? when? why? No sentences yet, just ideas.
  2. Build. English word order is fixed: who + does + what, then the place, then the time. Ortisio writes a letter in the library every night.
  3. Link. and adds, but contrasts, because gives the reason, so gives the result.
  4. Order. A paragraph has a start (what it is about), a middle (two or three details) and an end (how you feel or a conclusion).
  5. Check. Capital letter at the start? Full stop at the end? A verb in every sentence? One idea per sentence? A capital I?

What is inside the lab

Chapter 0 · The basics, made for beginners: what a sentence is, how to build one, how to enrich it with the five questions, and how to go from a sentence to a paragraph. It ends with your first text of your own: four sentences to introduce yourself.

Chapter 1 · An invitation for the Duchess, a formal B1 email in six steps: fix Ortisio’s letter, choose the linking words, learn greetings and closings for different readers, turn informal sentences into formal ones with Blot’s inkwell, review, and finally write the reply yourself (100-140 words).

How the feedback works

Your text is checked by fixed rules, not by artificial intelligence: length, formal greeting and closing, informal words and contractions, number and kind of linking words, a polite request, the points of the task, and the mistakes Italian speakers make most (I am agree, informations, explain me, depend from…). Help comes in steps: first a hint, then the rule. At the end you see your first and last version side by side.

It all happens inside a 3D library: the exercises live in a flying book that opens and turns its pages, and between steps there is a short break to catch firefly letters, which become ink drops for hints. No account, no sign-up, works on computer and phone.
