🎓 How the scoring works
Warning: you only get one try per question! Prof. Meow Meow hates being late. He will judge you strictly on whether you use the right prepositions for days (ON) and months (IN), and whether you tell the time the English way (e.g. half past) instead of translating word for word.
1. What time is it? The “Singular” trick ⚡
In many languages the time is plural (“They are three”). In English, the time is one single block, so we always use It is (It’s).
- ✅ Three o’clock: It’s three o’clock.
- ✅ Half past three: It’s half past three.
- ❌ Big mistake: Are the three / They are three.
- ❌ Big mistake: Three and half. (We don’t say “and half”. We say “half past three”.)
2. The magic triangle: IN, ON, AT 🗝️
| When to use it 🗓️ | Correct ✅ | Common mistake ❌ |
|---|---|---|
| Days of the week | On Monday | The Monday / In Monday |
| Months of the year | In July | On July / At July |
| Exact times | At 5 o’clock | To the 5 / In 5 o’clock |
| Dates (days on the calendar) | The first of May | The one of May (Use ordinal numbers!) |
