Adjectives (Describing Words)
📌 Lesson contents
🎯 Lesson goal
In this lesson you will learn to use adjectives 📖 to describe people, animals, things and places. You will see where they go in a sentence 🧠, how to use them with the verb to be and with nouns, and at the end you can test yourself with the interactive quiz! 🚀
🌟 What are adjectives?
Adjectives describe qualities, features or states. They answer the question: what is something or someone like?
Examples: tall 📏, happy 😊, fast 🚀, tired 😴, big 🐘, cold 🥶.
🔍 Where do they go in a sentence?
| Position | Structure | Example |
|---|---|---|
| After the verb to be | subject + verb to be + adjective | She is happy. |
| Before a noun | adjective + noun | A happy child. |
⚠️ In English, the adjective always goes before the noun, never after it!
📌 Common examples
- With the verb to be:
I am tired.
They are hungry.
He is tall. - Before a noun:
A beautiful day.
An old car.
A fast train.
